DIY Christmas gift: Heart tea bags ♡

What you're going to need:
 ♥ Scissors
♥ Sewing needles
 ♥ Any kind of tea
♥ Any color thread
♥ Coffee filters (Four for every one you make)
Tags

The first thing you're going to want to do is grab about four coffee filters and its a lot easier if you keep them together how they came instead of taking them out individually. This way its easier to cut. If your coffee filters are fairy thin like mine are, you might want to use four, two on each side. But if they are on the thicker side, you can try one on each side. It just has to be thick enough to sew though and not break off!

Fold the coffee filters in half and do your best to keep all of the ends straight. Cut half of a heart into the middle of the coffee filter and you should get four hearts!

It should look a little something like this. If all the hearts are uneven try your best to gather them together and begin to sew. You're going to have to sew very tight together so the tea doesn't fall out!

Once you have about half of your heart together its time to pour in the tea! This can be a little messy, so I suggest doing it over a hard surface.

Once you have your tea in your bag, finish closing it up and keep it tight! I stress this a lot because the tea WILL fall out!

To add a tag you can use any kind of stiff paper and just poke a hole though the top and add it to the side, or top of the heart. You can have it say whatever you want! I just chose to have it say what kind of tea it was.

And there you go! A heart tea bag. This would make an amazing gift for any tea lover and it doesn't take very much time at all. You could make about 10 of them and put them into a little mason jar and you have a whole gift that took you less than $5 to make! xo

What i've been up to lately ♡

I've been crazy busy lately and was actually working four jobs at once at one point in the last two months so i've been doing my best to work with the little time I do have on the internet. Now that 2013 is coming to a close I just wanted to make one more "what i've been up to lately" post before it ends. In the past month i've been working a ton and eating a lot of Japanese food. Towards the end of this year i've been thinking about what I want to do with my life a lot more since i'm getting older and i'm getting more and more confident with what I want to do with my life. I signed up for Japanese classes at school for next semester and i'm really excited because I really want to study abroad in Japan.

I was working on a Stay Cute photo shoot that i've been planning for a while and it went really well! You can watch the video I filmed and put together for it here. I got to hang out with some of my friends and it turned out to be a really fantastic day and I can't wait to do a spring/summer shoot for stay cute! I started working at Anthropologie and I absolutely love it. I've been shopping there a lot and I'm really hoping to maybe intern there in 2014! I've been pretty great lately and i'm happy with what 2013 gave me and i'm so happy that all of you stuck with me and gave me the chance to take you all with me and gave me so many opportunities because with out you I wouldn't be able to do any of this! Please do let me know down in the comments how you've been and how this school year was for you!

How the grinch stole Christmas (THE PLAY!) ♡

I went to go watch how the grinch stole Christmas and it was so fun! I absolutely loved it. I took some pictures to show you guys ^~^ if you see this play near you, you should check it out because its really great. I actually watched it when I was younger and I was terrified of the Grinch.

They decorated everything around the theatre to be Grinch themed!

DIY Christmas present (Hot chocolate set) ♡

Things you will need:
♥ Hot chocolate powder
♥ Candy canes
♥ Marshmallows
♥ Yarn/ribbon
♥ Bells (optional)
♥ Tags (optional)
♥ Scissors
♥ Mason jar

The first thing you're going to want to do is pour in the hot chocolate powder. You can use whatever kind or brand you'd like. I just bought this kind because there was a lot of it! Be mindful of how many tablespoons you need for one cup of hot chocolate so you can write how many people it serves on the tag. Mine serves 7!

Next pour in the marshmallows. You can put as many as you want or as little as you want. Remember to be mindful of how many people this will serve so you're not over doing it, or under doing it. You could also substitute marshmallows for gram cracker crumbs!

Next stick in some candy canes. I stuck mine in straight down instead of crushing them up because i'm planning on putting in 7 candy canes, one for each serving! The candy canes came in individual wrappers so I used one of them to put on top of the marshmallows to use kind of like a cover before you add more hot chocolate. If you don't put something to separate the two the chocolate will kind of take over and you won't be able to see the candy canes very well.

This is what it should look like once you add more powder, marshmallows, and candy canes. You could make this smaller by looking for a smaller jar or putting in bigger marshmallows.

I decided to add some lace to one of the jars to show you some possible ways you can decorate the jars!   I added small amounts of glue to the lace so it will stick to the jar. Something fun you could also do is paint the lid a different color!

And this is what the finished product will look like. I'm really happy with how it turned out and I can't wait to gift it! The total cost to complete two jars was $6 which amazing. It took me less than 10 minutes to make both of them, too! Be sure to show me if you end up making a hot chocolate set! Xoxo

I feel like moms are the hardest people to shop for because they always tell you that they don't want anything at all. But of course, we always get them something.  I piled together some adorable little trinkets and household items that would work perfectly as gifts for moms, and really anyone who likes baking/cooking!

Gift ideas for boys ♡

It's so typical that boys always have messy rooms that are usually taken over by things his mom buys for him to decorate his room. Why not get him something totally cool that will add a touch of gaming flare to his room? (not his dusty xbox) These video game cartridge pillows are perfect for just that. Found on Thinkgeek these retro pillows would make the great addiction to anyones room (male or female, really!)

Something isn't right here.. Sriracha candy canes?! Thats right! These are not for the faint of heart. These hot sauce candy canes will make the perfect stocking stuffer this holiday season. You could even hand these out at a party and pass them off as regular candy canes *heheheh… Found on Thinkgeek these hot sauce candy canes are sure to make someones day.

Have a boyfriend, friend, or co-worker who is a grumpy grouch? (or should I say.. cat) This grumpy cat mug is perfect for them! Grumpy cat is so adorable and so is this mug. It perfectly describes a lot of people in the morning. Found on Thinkgeek this mug would make a great stocking stuffer or secret santa present for that special someone.

Got a Star Wars lover on your hands? This Storm trooper alarm clock is super cool! He won't kill you in your sleep (I think) Gifting an alarm clock is great because who doesn't need an alarm clock?! We all want the cool version of everything. Found on Modcloth this cute little Storm trooper will keep your friend.. or special friend company!

Have a music lover on your hands? A record player is the best gift. For anyone, really! Pair this with a couple of cool thrifted records and you've got a whole gift on your hands! Having a record player is the most awesome thing because come on.. It's a record player! Found on Amazon this record player is very affordable compared to others and has great reviews, too!

Books can always be a great thing to give. This 75th Anniversary poster book of DC comics would make a fantastic gift for anyone interested in the DC comics or movies. Not only could this be a great coffee table book, but a great book to have for any comic book collected. Found on Modcloth
Everyone needs a nightlight because lets face it, the dark is scary. I know I'm not alone here when I say this is the coolest night light ever! Found on Modcloth this nightlight would make just about anyone excited. If they aren't happy with this. I'm not sure what WILL make them happy.

Remember that personal gifts are always something that is adored. Notes, photo albums, and giving gifts that are little reminders of you or someone else are really great! I will be having a couple DIY's coming up so that could also be a part of your lovely gift. Stay tuned!
